The Corkery Story is a readable and authoritative account of the history and origins of the Corkery family. It has special reference to the Corkery family in New Zealand, although much of the material applies to Corkerys throughout the world (see extracts from the early chapters elsewhere in this page). Daniel Bernard Corkery, one of the authors, is the grandson of Irish ancestors to New Zealand. He spent most of his professional life as a forester in New Zealand. He worked on this history project for 20 years, researching his family's history in Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and elsewhere. Daniel's co-author and son is Jim Corkery, a professor of law at Bond University on the Gold Coast of Australia. He has written a number of other books. You can also reach co-author Jim Corkery on his E-Mail at Bond University - jcorkery@bond.edu.au He welcomes inquiries about the family, its origins and history. The chapter headings in this history include: The origin of Corkery; Corkerys around the world; some prominent Corkerys; Mitchelstown; Migration to New Zealand; Pioneer descendants... The book also includes a list of persons and institutions who have assisted with the compilation of this family history. This list will assist those who with to pursue their own research into their branch of the family.
