'Drugs, Sport and the Law'
Saul has been a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, The
University of Sydney since February, 1998. Prior to his present
appointment in Sydney, he was a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of
Law, The Australian National University
for seven years, where he lectured in corporate law, trusts and
equity. He received his formal legal training at the University
of Western Ontario in London, Canada and at Oxford University, where
he was awarded a B.C.L., a post-graduate degree in law.
Following admission to practice, he spent one year as an associate
to the Chief Justice of the High Court of Ontario. He then spent
a period of five years in legal practice in Toronto, Canada, working
first as a solicitor, specialising in mergers and acquisitions as
well as corporate fundraising and then as a barrister, specialising
in various forms of commercial litigation. He also taught Business
Law as a part of the Law Society of Upper Canada's Bar Admission
Course. While at the ANU, Saul taught corporate and commercial law
at the Faculty of Law and also in the Department of Commerce. In
addition to his teaching at the ANU and The University of Sydney,
Saul also teaches in two graduate business programs operated under
the auspices of the University of New South Wales: the Graduate
Diploma in Management at the Australian Graduate School of Management
and the Graduate Management Studies Program at the Australian Defence
Force Academy.
Saul has published extensively in the area of corporate law and
corporate governance, including co-authorship of Afterman and Baxt's
Cases and Materials on Corporations and Associations (7th
ed, 1996, 8th ed, 1999) and has presented numerous seminars on a
variety of legal topics to both lawyers and non-lawyers. He is presently
engaged in work relating to the governance and administration of
international sporting federations, as well as work on drug testing
in sport.
