From Sea to Summerlea

Sheila Burnell

The first 20 years of Sheila Burnell's life were spent by the sea at Merewether, a suburb of Newcastle, NSW. She was married at the end of World War 2 and with her husband Reg, began a new life farming at 'Summerlea', Upotipotpon in North East Victoria.

She has published the following works:

The Magic Telescope, jointly written by five authors and published in July 2003, for 9/10 year olds;

A short story included in an anthology Reading the Signs, published in September 2003, for students in years 9/10;

A autobiographical book of poems From Sea to Summerlea, published in March 2008; and

Ellie's Pony for children 7-10 years old, published in December 2008.

Four children, nine grand-children and four great-grand-children later she still lives at 'Summerlea' with her dog, Nora.
